Welcome to the February edition of the Broadbent Bulletin.
This month we looked back on Ed’s legacy, one year after the life of our dear friend, founder, and mentor was celebrated at a State Funeral held in Ottawa, on January 28th, 2024. As Executive Director Jen Hassum reflected on the anniversary of his passing, “continuing Ed’s legacy allows Canadians to envision a better future… and we are honoured to carry his torch forward.”
Throughout December and January we published a series of Ed’s speeches and texts discussing some of the most important debates of his political career, re-published on Perspectives: A Canadian Journal of Political Economy and Social Democracy. Several of these include commentary from Ed’s Seeking Social Democracy co-author Luke Savage, who reminds us that Ed’s “rich vision of democratic equality can and should continue to be our compass in this era of uncertainty and crisis.”

PressProgress is also celebrating Editor Luke LeBrun, who is a finalist for a Canadian Online Publishing Award for his investigative reporting in 2024 on the bizarre Ottawa International Food and Book Expo.
