Jen Hassum is the Executive Director of the Broadbent Institute, Canada’s progressive think tank dedicated to promoting social democracy and economic equality. She has extensive experience leading teams at the municipal, provincial, and national levels.

As a former Director of Communications for a political party, Jen’s efforts contributed to historic electoral victories. In her previous role at the United Steelworkers union, she was instrumental in organizing new workplaces and achieving significant public policy gains for working-class people. From time to time, Jen publishes her thoughts in the Ottawa Citizen, Toronto Star and National Observer.

Jen holds degrees from Trinity College at the University of Toronto and a Master’s in Canadian History from York University. She actively serves on several not-for-profit boards, living her commitment to community service and governance.

Residing in Cambridge, Ontario, Jen balances her professional life with family time, enjoying life with her husband and two young children.
