Trevor McKenzie-Smith owns and operates a consulting company where he works with Indigenous organizations & governments, trade unions, provincial & municipal governments, political candidates and civil society organizations.

Over the last twenty-five years he has worked as an organizer, strategist, communicator, public opinion researcher, manager and campaigner pressing for progressive change across Canada. He works extensively in BC, Ontario and throughout the Canadian Prairies.

He has worked in countless campaigns on the ground and in senior roles. He’s done government transition work at municipal and provincial levels and was also the 2020 Provincial Campaign Director for the Saskatchewan NDP.

Until recently he was the Vice President at a national firm where he oversaw all of their public opinion polling and political engagement work.

He worked for Jack Layton’s NDP and was also a Special Advisor to former NDP Premier Lorne Calvert.

Among his recent most impactful projects is an international partnership with Gaia Amazonas in Colombia, aimed at raising awareness in Canada about the Amazon Rainforest, promoting Indigenous human rights, protecting the region’s rich biodiversity and supporting the objectives of the Macroterritory of the Jaguars of the Yurupari Indigenous government. Trevor holds a masters degree in political geography from the University of Toronto, he’s a citizen of the Métis Nation of Saskatchewan and a dad to two kids.
